What’s up!  You found this post because you were looking for it. You  want to know how you can write your first blog post and it looks professional, right.

I was definitely in your shoes not long ago. Scrolling Pinterest and Google trying to figure out what to write about in my first blog post and how to write it. I didn’t know much, but what I did know is I wanted it to look professional

I wanted it to appear to anybody that came across my very first blog post, that I knew what I was doing. All while having absolutely no clue and only a goal.

By the end of this quick read I want you to be able to do the same.

If I could I would give you word for word what to write in your first blog post. And while I can’t do that I can give you a few great pointers.

Boss Tip #1

Establish A Mindset

Nobody stresses this enough. Establishing a positive, I can do it mindset is the first thing to conquer in writing your first blog post. We are naturally our own worst critic. We hold ourselves to high standards. Probably due to “ Hey, bighead ass egos”.

This will be the thing that holds you back the most, thinking you can not do it before you even start. Or, not giving yourself enough grace.

It does not have to be perfect just hit the publish button there is an audience out there who will love your imperfect masterpiece.

Do you have a routine in place?

Having a routine will be the best thing you do for yourself. You have to dedicate time to writing your first blog post and many more after. I personally wake up at 4:30 in the morning even on my rest days, I would hate to break the routine I have going.

It was surprisingly easy to get to this point of waking up earlier. You can read more about it in Your morning routine sucks. Here’s how to make it better.

Waking up earlier ensured that I had a refreshed mind to work with. I have 3 kids and by the end of the day I would be so tired and overstimulated. I had absolutely no desire to work on my blog.

I started thinking “why are you trying to force yourself to do this at night?” Being able to wake up at 4:30am has removed the stress involved with creating this blog and also allows me to still be present with my family while building this business.

Bottom line find a time that works for you and capitalize on it!

Consistency is Key

If you are not consistent or do not have a consistent mindset. This is something you will want to build and work on. All of the above steps and the tips I give below rely on consistency.

It doesn’t matter if  you only have 30 mins to work on your blog everyday. You are putting in 3.5 hours more a week than someone who thinks 30 min a day is not a lot of time and chooses to do nothing.

Stay consistent and focused with the amount of time you have and you will see progress. I don’t want to ramble on about the importance of becoming consistent in this article. I elaborate more on this topic here How to become consistent in 4 simple and easy steps.

Boss Tip #2

Decide if you want to Monetize?

If starting a blog is just a creative outlet for you and you don’t see yourself in the future wanting to monetize. That is completely fine.

On the other hand if you would like to make passive income from your blog because  you’re a single parent, homemaker (sahm), looking for extra cash on the side, or whatever have you.

Choose your Platform

You need to choose the correct platform. For either choice above I still recommend a self hosting website. Why? It will allow you to have control over YOUR website.

Trust me when I say you don’t want to wake up one morning and all your hard work is gone for whatever reason your free hosting platform chooses.

I will always choose to safeguard my assets. When it comes to certain things, affordable over free is sometimes better.

Not to mention if you ever do decide you want to monetize your platform the way YOU WANT TO you will be able to. The hosting website I currently use is Bluehost. Honestly, it was just one of the ones I googled and it was at an affordable price, soooo I purchased it.

Now that I have experience with the platform I’ve come to appreciate the value and ease it brings to my blog.

    • The customer support is always there, I had to contact them within my first 3 days and my issue was fixed in an hour.

    • There are so many plugins available that are easy to install and help you in your blogging journey.

    • It connects to WordPress in one click.

    • Plenty of free website themes to choose from.

    • I was able to add my first blog post with ease

    • Last, but not least the plans start at just 2.95$ a month.

A couple other ones that I’ve found and are also affordable are Hostgator and Siteground. I listed these so you can do your due diligence and choose what works best for you.

Even with all the above stated most people won’t tell you this, but it is possible to make money with a free hosting platform like Blogger.com. You can also purchase a domain name and achieve a  professional look with a free hosting platform.

Boss Tip #3

Start with a niche (topic)

If you do decide to monetize your blog you want to pick a topic and focus on it. I am the owner of what some would consider a lifestyle blog because I talk about multiple topics.

My blog includes 5 niches:

    • Personal Finance

    • How to make money (Online/Offline)

    • Parenting

    • DIY homemade all natural skin & hair care products

    • Personal Development

All of the topics above are things that I am truly passionate about. They are naturally incorporated and implemented in my everyday life. Since I do all of  these things everyday I have experience. Also, each one of these topics can stand on their own as well. Having experience in so many different things made it easy for me to write my first blog post.

(Fun Fact I actually owned a Homemade Soap business selling natural soaps, body butter, scrubs etc. I terminated that business because I wanted a way to make passive income to contribute to our home while staying active in my children’s lives. That’s a story for another time optional add blog post)

Most people say that lifestyle blogs are hard to maintain because you are talking about so many niches and appealing to different types of audiences. Knowing exactly who you are talking and learning how to interlink your posts in a way they compliment each other.

For example a blog post about  “DIY Textured Wall art on a Budget”  is incorporating Personal Finance and DIY niche together.

Another example would be “How to create a Morning Routine to make time for Your Side Hustle” incorporating Personal development and how to make money online/offline together. The possibilities are endless, you just have to learn to play around with it.

If you just want to pick one topic to blog about, that is totally possible and very much preferred. You have a NICHE then you have SUB NICHES. This is what makes a niche evergreen the ability to talk about so many different things included in that niche or become super focused on one sub niche.

Choose something you have experience in and can relate to. You don’t want to be 3 months in and can not relate to your blog.

Picking a niche will ensure you are on your way to writing a fucking awesome first blog post. Make sure you check it out after you’re done taking notes from this post.

Boss Tip #4

Look for affiliates in your Niche

The main reason I even started blogging is I wanted to get into affiliate marketing to make passive income. Immediately after the idea of starting a blog crossed my mind I looked for affiliates.

Finding affiliates is easily done. Just go to google and type in a company then affiliate program. Perfect example: go to Google type in Amazon Affiliate Program it pops right up. Most companies work the same way. It is very simple.

I started with companies that I already used and shopping apps I have on my phone. For example I use Rakuten a lot and they have a program.

Then I became really specific with each niche and chose programs and products accordingly. You want a variation of programs and products for a reason. You don’t want all your eggs in one basket, right?

Here are a couple affiliate networks that I joined

  • CJ affiliates & Shareasale I don’t like to have to go to, too many places to look for affiliates. I like to keep it real simple high commission and lot of merchants. All in one place. Doesn’t matter your niche they have a merchant for you.
  • Amazon Associates was a no brainer for me. I’m very crafty. My talents include, but definitely not limited too cold/hot processed and melt & pour soap, anything dealing with body, bath, skin, and hair, herbalism, resin art and tables, acrylic paint, upcycled furniture and so so so much more. So, yea, I’m an associate.

Boss Tip #5

Do not write about yourself

This tip is going to be really short and really sweet. We live in a world where people want their problems solved. I’m not saying don’t be personable. You absolutely want to be personable, connect and care about your audience.

People want to see who you really are not the watered down front that you put on. Write your 1st blog post with the intention of being truly who you are.

Just don’t make it all about YOU. You want to address a problem, connect, and then offer a solution. This is how you will be able to attract an audience and monetize on your blog.

Boss Tip #6

Take your Time

You don’t have to buy a website, launch a blog, make money your first week, and become an overnight success in 14 days. Let’s be realistic here, this will take time. Take your time writing your first blog post. I also suggest you consider taking your time with:

    • Starting a consistent routine and sticking with it

    • Researching what’s best for you and your targeted audience

    • Picking a platform and setting up a website

    • Choosing ways to monetize your blog

    • Creating a plan of action

    • Implementing a positive mindset

    • Figuring out what success means to you

    • Learning to celebrate and be grateful for the tiniest wins

    • Setting goals and working towards them everyday

Success does not come overnight; it comes with consistency, routines, and choosing to keep going. You get what you put out there and the opportunities you choose to take when they are presented to you.
