Do you really need a niche to start a blog is a great question to ask. Everybody talks about niches, what they are, and why it’s good to have one.

Even I talk about niches. But, do I think it’s necessary to have one? No, I don’t.

I think that every person “is” their own niche and has something valuable to offer. I value you staying true to you. Staying consistent with who you are and succeeding.

If you really needed a niche you wouldn’t have a niche called lifestyle. Which is basically a niche that categorizes people blogging without a niche( Are you following me ?).

Which is what I do. I’m considered a lifestyle blog. I blog about a lot of different topics, and every single one of them I do on a daily basis.

I solve readers’ problems, give them ideas, and connect with them. Most of all I’m just being me.

That is what keeps my blog alive. I never run out of anything to talk about or research because these are things I do everyday.

They say it’s hard to make money on a lifestyle blog. I say stay consistent and find your tribe, your loyal fans. Connect with your audience. Show them you have something to offer and that something is you. You are enough!

Lifestyle blogs I like

Here’s a couple examples of lifestyle blogs. (This is just a list its not in any particular order)

    1. Cup Of Jo this blog was founded by Joanne Goddard. This blog covers everything from fashion to divorces. She talks about the things you really don’t want to talk about, but in a very positive and inspirational tone.

    1. The Everygirl  has everything for every girl. I took one quick glance and it didn’t take me long to see they truly have everything. From sex and relationship to body image to fitness and wellness. Any young woman looking to make a mark in their life would definitely benefit from reading The Everygirl blog.

    1. The Skinny Confidential  My favorite color is Pink and Lauryn has all the pink I could ever dream of. Definition of femininity I swear. Besides the color scheme there are no boundaries on this blog she covers it all. She originally started off as a health and  fitness blog and expanded to lifestyle. Looking for a blog that is relatable almost like talking to your best friend. Check out The Skinny Confidential.

    1. Wit & Delight Kate focuses on creating a home that you truly love and I’m not just talking about the decor.  Whenever I read her blogs it’s full of inspiration and personality.

This is just to name a few. Lifestyle blogs are fun and inviting. You can literally find all you need in one space. On top of that they are usually very personable and different. I truly love that.

I hate when you go to a blog and it focuses solely on one thing. Which isn’t a bad thing, but I always felt like it’s so salesy. Ya,know. Especially, when I was looking into how to start a blog. I found nothing but blogs based on blogging and so many people that had a blog that was all about blogging.

Yes, Blogging is a niche.

They were all “I was broke too, I had a horrible job, here buy this, we’ve all been here before blah blah blah.”  Like seriously, shut the front door. Of course there is an audience out there that loves that kind of stuff, it just wasn’t for me. ( I will admit I did gain some knowledge from it. )

I love connecting with people being personable, giving them a real glimpse into my life. And not having you all wonder if I’m like this in real life. That’s why I talk about so many things that matter to me.

Enough about me.

Do you really need a niche to make money blogging. How to choose the perfect niche to make money blogging. home of the makers.

Starting A Lifestyle Blog

If you want to start a lifestyle blog. I highly suggest that you do it based on your passions and what you do throughout the day. You Like Crafts, Parenting, and Cooking blog about that. You like Big Thrills, Relaxing beaches, pampering your dog, and comfy clothes blog about that.

If you want to be successful just remember to always ask. How will this benefit my reader?

You like Big Thrills, you’ve been skydiving. A perfect post would be talking about how you conquered fear and anxiety before jumping out of a plane 10,000 feet high or what you did to mentally prepare for your skydive.

One thing I  like to do is think about the audience I want to reach and write down a list of questions.

How old are they?

Do they have kids?

What do they do in their free time?

Are they career driven?

Do they have any hobbies?

Are they struggling in their relationship?

So forth and so on and every time I write a post,  I write to my person. I ask these questions before most of the posts I write. It helps me get a feel, it helps me get into character.

For me it’s all about connection and staying true to yourself. I recently read about a post from a big time blogger. A lot of bloggers drew inspiration from her and she has been doing this awhile and made a shit ton of money from it, but………….

Guess what she is shutting it all down. Why? In short it doesn’t align with who she has grown to be. She was also really niched down too.

Pick something else

You can change paths with a lifestyle blog and never have to shut anything down because it will always align with you; it’s literally your life in a  blog. We are gaining knowledge and growing everyday. Getting rid of old habits and picking up new ones.

A lifestyle blog grows with you.

Making money with a lifestyle blog.

If you are worried about making money with a niche. You can make money in a number of ways with any blog. There are plenty of opportunities. As long as you are consistent the opportunities will come.

    • Ads

    • Sponsored post

    • Brand deals

    • Freelance

    • Affiliate marketing

    • Digital products

    • Physical product

    • Coachings

All in all I wrote this post because I want you to be yourself. The “NICHE” is you. I want you to be confident in what you have to offer and not sell out to creating yet another Blog about Blogging, because it may make you money “faster”.
